After a recent cold front, water temperatures dropped into the mid-50s. Thanks to a couple days of warm weather the water temperatures are back to 60 degrees. Fortunately we have not seen any big fish kills in the Clearwater FL area.

Having a chance to get out on the 12th of this month saw hundreds of healthy snook in several different areas pushed up in the canals with deep water. Speckled trout are in the deeper flats and as the day warms up will move to the shallower part of the flats, redfish have been scattered working such baits as Mirro Dean’s, Top Pup Juniors and Jerkbaits will help you locate these fish.

Now, hopefully the snook population will hold tough being we have two back-to-back cold fronts coming in it will make for another very cold week which gives one day to get out and fish between fronts.

Till next time, tight lines!
