With finally getting a true cold front through the Clearwater area the Bait fish are going to leave until the spring as the water temperatures will drop to the high 50s to low 60 degrees. Now is the time to start hitting those deeper docks and canals with darker water that give the snook, redfish and trout a more comfortable water temperature.

The bait of choice will be live shrimp, fiddler crabs, mangrove crabs, silver dollar size pin fish and pig fish. Around the docks you will find black drum redfish and sheep head in the canals while in the mouth of canals you will find snook redfish and trout holding adjacent to grass flats and oyster bars.

Stay warm and tight lines.
