At any given time, something special is happening in the water and this may lead to more or less of certain fish species. Water temperatures and tides are huge factors for planning and plotting your fishing trip but if you know a local guide, such as Captain Craig Lahr, you may just be able to get some special insights as to why the fishing is as strong, or weak as it is.

Currently in October, and likely into November we are seeing a big influx of frybait in the inshore and nearshore areas stretch South of Indian Rocks Beach and even to the North of Clearwater’s Beaches and inshores. Keep in mind however this is only one of many factors influencing the good numbers right now. It is however one of the main factors that’s not obvious (such as the cooler water temps) and one Capt’ Craig is willing to divulge.
Frybait are a favorite food for many different species. With plenty of bait, the fish are moving, coming closer to the shore and in good numbers. Any kind of style fishing will likely produce well with different fish.
There are a plethora of options for catching fish, whether your a novice or pro angler. Fishing these inshore and nearshore waters can get crazy at times. From Redfish and Trout to Spanish Mackerel, Kingfish, Cobia, to Sharks these beautiful fish can be caught off the beaches with anything from live bait to plugs and multiple artificials.
