The tarpon have shown up in the Clearwater Beach backwater and passes from St. Petersburg to Tarpon Springs. These fish are just showing up. The best time to target these brawlers is on moving tides in the passes. For the back water the ponds will be easier to target with hire light. From the Tampa Bay area to St. Joseph’s Sound the bait of choice is small pinfish, pilchard and thredfin heering.

Aside from the Tarpon in Cleawater, Redfishing has been strong on the flats. These bulldogs are feeding on whitebait and and cut ladyfish and pinfish . The average fish are ranging from 24 to 32 inches.

Snook are finally showing back up in the west central area after the constant winds for the past couple of weeks. Look on the flats and passes to find these fish. White bait has been the bait of choice to coax these weary fish into feeding. Fish ranging from 5 to 20 Lbs. have been the norm.
