Targeting Tarpon
The Tarpon bite is strong right now. Area rock piles off Clearwater beach are holding fish from 60 to 120 pounds! Also don’t forget the bridges and deeper cuts of st Joseph’s sound. The best time to target Tarpon have then on the beginning or ending of the tides.
Reelin Reds
Redfish and have started to make a strong showing on the Clearwater flats. Low water coming up or high water going out has been the most productive in catching these bruisers. Live or dead bait is the bait of choice.
Don’t forget about the toothy critter, the Shark
Bullshark, Blacktips, and Lemon Sharks can be found during the day on the flats which makes for exciting sighting of them busting up schools of mullet, reds and sting rays. Not to mention sharks put up a great fight and are quit the adventure to fish for. Just be safe and follow local regulations out there. They exist for good reason.
